![]() Graphic from the book Essentialism by Greg McKeown It makes you feel like you’re making progress, but when you really stop and you look at it, you’ve gone nowhere. I was just doing everything, which makes you feel busy. I had multiple courses I was taking at the same time and I was never actually finishing anything. I was downloading “all the things.” I was signing up for programs. I did the same thing in my business when I first started. When I was a little girl, my dad used to say that I would ping like a BB in a tin can. It keeps you motivated in your business when you can be disciplined enough to stay focused. ![]() You’ll look back and think, gosh, I can’t believe I got that done already, and you are on fire and excited. Whereas if you’re focused on something like a laser, you feel like you’re making absolute massive progress. We feel like we’re inching along, we get bored, we get burned out, we move on to something else that’s more fun and more exciting. When we’re scattered like the disco ball, it’s very hard to make progress. That’s what we want to achieve in our business. Compare that to a laser that can actually cut steel. It can be kind of fun, right, but not very productive. A disco ball that scatters light in every different direction. I want you to picture two different things in your mind right now. And it can feel really hard, like you’re just doing all of this work, but you’re not getting anywhere and you’re spinning all the plates. StayFocusd was developed by Warren Benedetto at Transfusion Media (), a Los Angeles based creative studio specializing in web design, PHP/MySQL programming and Flash development. It is highly configurable, allowing you to block or allow entire sites, specific subdomains, specific paths, specific pages, even specific in-page content (videos, games, images, forms, etc). Once your allotted time has been used up, the sites you have blocked will be inaccessible for the rest of the day. StayFocusd is a productivity extension for Google Chrome that helps you stay focused on work by restricting the amount of time you can spend on time-wasting websites. You've checked your email, updated your Facebook status, browsed the trending topics on Twitter, read your RSS feeds, looked up your favorite band on Wikipedia, vanity googled yourself, cyber-stalked your ex, looked at all your high-school crushes' Facebook photos, watered your plants on Farmville, and lost a week's pay playing online poker. Next thing you know, it's twelve hours later. You sit down at the computer, and you swear you'll be productive. StayFocusd te permite aumentar tu productividad limitando el tiempo que puedes pasar en sitios web que hacen perder el tiempo.
